RULE 3.650. JUDGMENT DEFINED

  • A "judgment" is the formal declaration by the court that a defendant is guilty or not guilty.
  • This formal ruling is also referred to as an "adjudication."
  • The judgment of guilt is a separate legal event from the sentence (the punishment), and it must be entered before a sentence can be imposed.

The term “judgment” means the adjudication by the court that the defendant is guilty or not guilty.
