In its discretion, the court may authorize documents and exhibits to be included in notebooks for use by the jurors during trial to aid them in performing their duties.
RULE 3.372. JUROR NOTEBOOKS
- The use of juror notebooks is not a right; it is permitted only at the discretion of the trial judge.
- The notebooks are intended to help jurors perform their duties by organizing key information.
- Notebooks may contain copies of documents and exhibits that have been admitted into evidence.
- This practice is most common in long or complex cases (e.g., white-collar crime, RICO) where jurors need help keeping track of many exhibits.
